I really really love snow. I got snowflake earrings, Let-it-snow-socks, I crochet snowflakes, I love to include them in spinning and I just can't see enough of it. I also was thinking about doing Guerilla Knitting for a while (after reading about Guerilla Gardening and considered that a while but could not find anyone else around here) and was looking for a good occasion to do it.
Last weekend, when this relatively moderate snow fall started over here (not as much as in other parts in Europe, though) I combined the one and the other and started knitting a snowflake graffiti. I used some old handspun in multiple red merino and some random acryllic yarn and went on practicing intarsia knitting.
It turned out quite ok despite the difference in the yarns and I went out to put the snowflake to its new destination. I decided on a sign post on the square in front of our appartment. It was a really exciting feeling to get out at 2 am, trying to avoid people who were still walking around in the city and to find a place and attach it without being noticed. I took some more photos by daylight when it was already covered with snow.
This morning it was still there and I'm really curious to see how long it will. This is definitely something I will do again, I already have many ideas and another source of inspiration was the "Yarn Bombing" book I finally received today which gave me some additional ideas. But that is another story and will be told another time.
